Jennifer Hamilton has called Fresno home for nearly three decades. She has raised all of her children here, each one attending and graduating from Clovis Schools with all four going on to college in California. During their school years, she was an active parent volunteer, supporting their activities from kindergarten through high school, and balancing family commitments with a demanding legal career.

Professional

Fresno Superior Court Commissioner Jennifer Hamilton has been an active judicial officer on the Superior Court since February of 2000. She currently presides in Department 202 managing a large Family Court calendar while also serving as that division’s Supervising Judicial Officer. A graduate of UC Irvine and Western State Law School, she worked multiple jobs to fund her education, demonstrating her perseverance and dedication.

Prior to joining the Superior Court, she was a prosecutor in the District Attorney’s office for nearly a decade as well as a member of the Fresno Prosecutors Association Executive Board for three of those years. As a lawyer, she spent well over 10 years representing children and parents in Dependency court as well as providing vigorous defense of those less fortunate in our community.

Commitment to Our Youth

Jennifer is a dedicated community leader and legal professional with a longstanding commitment to youth mentorship and education. As a volunteer judge for the High School Youth Court at McClane, she has played a pivotal role in guiding students through peer-led restorative justice.  Commissioner Hamilton has also contributed to the Statewide High School Mock Trial program as a presiding judge of a county competition with student participation from over 27 local high schools each year.
